What's New in Social Media | Week Twenty Four

#EventsFromFacebook

In the past week, Facebook has launched a separate events app..

"Looking for something to do with friends this weekend? Want to know what's happening tonight? Find events that match your interests and stay up-to-date no matter where you are."

It's currently available on Apple and coming soon to Android so I will fill you in once I get a chance to check it out for myself.

#WorkplaceForFacebook

Imagine your entire work team being connected via group discussion, a personalised news feed, and voice and video calling, helping you work together and get more done!

Mark Zuckerburg announced, on October the 11th the role out of the Workplace for Facebook App and it sounds like a great idea, especially for organisations with large numbers of staff.

"One day, we realized other companies would benefit from using these tools and being more open as well. We started letting a few organizations around the world use our tools -- now called Workplace -- and the feedback has been very positive. Now more than 1,000 organizations are using Workplace.
- Mark Zuckerburg"

It also works alongside 'Work Chat'. and has been called the new Slack competitor - which is what we currently use here at Grassroots!

Social beats TV!

New research has shown for the first time that digital and social media ad spending has surpassed that of TV! Not surprising really - How many of us zone out when the ads come on? My parents mute the ads!!

This IS an American study and I would imagine NZ is a fraction behind but zooming up in the same pattern.
