Peek into GRM Keywords and SEO

Thanks for joining us for a full month of SEO goodness! Chelsea shared why SEO is important for your social media strategy. We shared easy steps towards better SEO. Finally, we heard from our SEO fave - Bec who gave us allllll the tips.

We just wanted to take some time to share how the Grass Roots Media (GRM) team intentionally writes website copy and SEO.

When we first wrote the copy for the GRM website, we asked ourselves, “What would our ideal client be typing into their Google search page to find us?”

Here’s a (tiny) glimpse into our brainstorm:

  • Help with my social media
  • Social media in the agriculture, dairy, industry
  • Ag based social media help
  • Rural social media and marketing
  • Social Media for NZ Primary Industries

You will find these words peppered throughout our headers, content, page descriptions, and image descriptions. Once our key words were identified, we worked hard to incorporate them into our site using a conversational, humorous, storytelling tone of voice.
It is a careful balance to ensure we can be found online, remain true to ourselves, tell our story, and meet your needs.

For additional insight we take the time to put our own website copy and keywords through free online keyword analysers. It is also enlightening to take a regular look at our website analytics to find out what people are typing into their search bar to find (or stumble) upon our site. Some of our recent favourites include:

  • boss lady (you know Chelsea loved seeing this!)
  • what is grass roots media
  • cricket protein (thanks Julia Jones!)

What other tips or tools have YOU used on your website to ensure your content and copy is rich, strategic and useful for your readers?

Feel free to send your tools to me at trista@grassrootsmedia.co.nz because I always love to learn!
